Notes from the road
Pretrip in Scotland
This June, we crafted a corporate retreat in bonnie or beautiful Scotland. Before the trip started, the guides tackled their “pretrip” among the wild landscapes, misty mountains, craggy coastlines regal castles, secluded lochs, magical woodlands, and quaint villages.
After testing all the Ayrshire biking and hiking, guides did the hard work of sampling pints in local pubs. Edinburgh meant hikes up Arthur’s Seat, ancient tunnel explorations beneath the Royal Mile, and inspections of the Balmoral Hotel. Highlights also included dancing to bagpipes aboard Belmond’s stunning Royal Scotsman train, fly-fishing in Cairngorms National Park, visiting the fishing villages of Plockton and Kyle of Lochalsh, boating to the remote isle of Ailsa Craig, and a stay at Glenapp Castle, The grand finale? A wild harbour swim before touring the 206-year-old Bladnoch Distillery. Slàinte Mhath!
