Anyone who loves luxury active travel will absolutely adore Spain. We certainly do! On Gray & Co.’s custom itineraries, our expert producers link up with local talents to guide guests on curated journeys to the best the country has to offer.

Getting around by private jet, luxe SUV and boat — and, of course, on foot and by bike — we’ll help you explore culturally rich cities, stunning Mediterranean islands, lush countryside, snowy mountains, otherworldly desert landscapes and wild coastlines. Along the way, you’ll experience age-old traditions, world-renowned wines and spirits and culinary delicacies you simply won’t find anywhere else, as well as a treasure trove of UNESCO World Heritage sites.

A perfect gateway to the country, the city of Barcelona, perched right on the Med, offers all of this and more: beautiful beaches, the surreal architectural wonders of Antoni Gaudí and some of the most impressive food in the world, found everywhere from tapas bars to Michelin-starred meccas of high cuisine. Your ideal day might begin with a waterfront bike ride followed by a historian led walking tour of Gothic old town, the Picasso Museum and Gaudí’s famed Sagrada Familia cathedral and Parc Güell, with lunch along the way at a locals’ favorite. Always a hit with families, Barcelona offers tons of outdoor space, kid-friendly museums and the chance to see Barcelona F.C. play soccer.

A short flight away, Mallorca, the largest of the western Med’s Balearic Islands, is paradise for cyclists and hikers. Gray & Co.’s bespoke rides and walks take you on smooth roads and perfectly maintained trails through quaint towns nestled in the Tramuntana Mountains and secluded calas (beaches) hidden among gorges, plus orange, olive and almond groves. The charming capital city of Palma, meanwhile, bursts with culture and history. We’ve uncovered amazing places to stay, including Relais & Châteaux’s Son Brull, housed in a former monastery, and Belmond’s La Residencia, overlooking the Med in the arty village of Deià.

The southern region of Andalusia is rightly celebrated for its whitewashed villages, Sierra Nevada mountains, sherry bottlings and Moorish architecture, including such iconic sites as the Alhambra palace and gardens. Gray & Co. offers an inside track on the must-visit — and much-visited — cities of Seville and Granada, keeping you away from the masses. Then, we bring travelers out to the countryside, where endless opportunities for active pursuits await, as do stays at Finca Cortesin’s lavish resort or the eco-luxe retreat of La Donaira.  In the mornings, enjoy custom hikes through gorges and alongside lakes, or private bike rides along the coast or into the mountains, a preferred training ground for pro cyclists. Afternoons can be spent playing a round of golf at one of over 100 local courses or saddling up on an Andalusian horse for a forest ride.

Beyond this trio of key destinations, Spain also provides the chance to surf awesome waves along its northern coastline, peddle through Rioja’s lush vineyards, explore Madrid’s museums, ski the Pyrenees and hike the historic pilgrim route of the Camino de Santiago.

The country overflows with offerings that will keep you coming back for years, adding trip after trip. It’s certainly done that for us. Gray & Co’s passion for amazing food and wine, deep cultural experiences and awe-inspiring adventuring means our little black book of Spanish favorites is ever-expanding. We’re ready to unlock the best of Spain, bringing the vibrant personality of this special destination to life for you.
