Jungle Walkways at Origins Lodge, Costa Rica

Global Active Getaways 2023 + Gratitude

The world is back on the move! Over the past many months, Gray & Co. has shifted into high gear with travellers and team members on the best roads, paths and waterways of Spain, France, Italy, Canada, Argentina, Morocco to name just a few. I'm just back from the jungles and beaches of Costa Rica. There, the national motto, "Pura Vida," literally translates to "pure life," but it also has a meaning to be grateful for the simple things you have in your life. It's such a beautiful and timely reminder from our Tico friends. Happy Thanksgiving to all.

XO, Cari + Team Gray

AFRICAN TALES: WSJ

The Wall Street Journal highlighted Gray & Co.'s Jacqui Goodwin in a recent article by Heidi Mitchell entitled "5 African Safaris That Are Actually Family-Friendly". Choosing among the myriad lodges and camps in Africa requires careful curation for groups travelling with children, not least because some don't even allow little ones. But, as Jacqui notes in the piece, Gray & Co. knows "camps where kids learn bush skills from Maasai guides and interact with kids from completely different cultures." Read the article for more tips and insights!

JUST BACK FROM: Provence

Nothing beats Provence in the fall...or spring...or summer. Hannah Riordan Bryson just returned from the land made famous by Van Gogh, Peter Mayle and many other literary and artistic types. From exclusive visits to the market in St Remy and ancient Roman ruins of Glanum, to paddling kayaks on the Sorgue River. Hannah did it all - with plenty of biking and hiking among medieval hilltop villages, too. One particularly sophisticated highlight? An expert guided tour of Villa La Coste's collection of modern and contemporary art. The hotel is by far the most luxe stay in Provence right now.

ASIA REPORT: Cambodia & Laos

Biking around the temples of Cambodia's Angkor Wat - the largest religious monument in the world - should be on everyone's Top Ten list. Gray & Co.'s Anna Belongoff, who's just gotten back home from Southeast Asia, adds the must-dos of boating among the floating villages of Tonle Sap lake, exploring the town of Siem Reap and watching the local Phare Circus. In neighbouring Laos, she explored the higher-altitude city of Luang Prabang, where Gray & Co. travellers can cruise the Mekong, bike to a butterfly sanctuary, hike to waterfalls and volunteer at both a bear rescue sanctuary and an elephant reserve.

FOLLOW THE SUN: Where to go

Goodbye snowflakes! It's time to head south with friends and family on a private active trip. Fire up the private jet to best access sunny locales. Lace up your boots to hike chic St Barth's, mysterious Guadeloupe & friendly Costa Rica. Bike the pampas of Uruguay, vineyards of Chile, hills of Colombia & red-rock canyons of Argentina. South Africa offers a plethora of outdoor pursuits and plenty of luxury. Don't forget Down Under. Southern Australia dazzles from Daylesford to Tasmania. Neighbor New Zealand features Lord of the Rings hikes and blissful vineyard bikes.
